BILL OF MATERIALS
The INMASS/MRP Bill of Materials (BOM) program allows you to maintain accurate, up-to-date records on your product structures, engineering bills and production routings. Additionally, by using Effectivity Dates, Drawing Numbers as Codes and/or Revision Numbers you can manage product changes very efficiently. With a single Job Issue transaction you automatically can remove many items from inventory.
Like the INMASS/MRP Inventory Control program, the BOM module has many capabilities that go beyond those normally found in microcomputer software. The program produces Requirements Reports that are ideal for manufacturers who are not ready for a full, time-phased Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system. When used in conjunction with INMASS/MRP's multi-company capability and other modules, it gives you a powerful simulation and estimation tool.
INMASS/MRP Bill of Materials requires Inventory Control and will integrate with the MRP and Job Cost/Work-In-Process modules. In addition to the preformatted reports included with the Bill of Materials module, custom reports can be generated with the INQUIRE Report Writer.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
- Powerful Bill of Materials structure: A Bill of Materials may contain any number of assembly levels, and any number of items within each level.
- Copy Bills of Materials: Bills can be copied from a "master" BOM and then modified as necessary.
- Bills can be printed in either an indented or single-level format. Their components can appear in order by part number or a user-assigned sequence number.
- Bills of Materials can be printed as Costed or Non-Costed Manufacturing Bills.
- Drawing and Revision Numbers included on Bills of Materials.
- Effectivity Dates eliminate purchase or fab of obsolete items and works with Material Requirements Planning in bringing in new items on time.
- Requirements Reports and Job Issues may be printed in a single level or exploded to a full indented Bill.
- A function is available to quickly update assembly cost based on accumulated component costs.
- Jobs can be issued from the BOM. Raw materials are transferred from available to allocated. When the job is complete, raw materials are removed from inventory and the number of finished items is updated.
- Back-flush function allows issue and completion all in one step.
- Labor, process, work center, employee, machinery and burden items may be included in a BOM with materials. Thusyou can track full manufacturing cost, and/or material cost.
- Non-Multiply feature allows for a single inclusion of set-ups, shop packets, drawings, etc.
- A header may be used on each Bill of Material. It can be used for assembly instructions, routing information, engineering information, etc.
- Multiple Comment lines allowed in each Bill of Material.
- Access to 250 character extended description.
- The BOM program can be interfaced with CAD/CAM, other software, or data collection devices via an INMASS/MRP ASCII Upload Utility.
- Phantom BOMs are supported.
- User-Defined Component "Scrap" and Assembly Shrinkage Factors compensate for materials lost in production.
- You can define decimal precision from zero to six places to the right of the decimal for costs and quantities.
- All data files can be converted to ASCII for use by Lotus, dBase, and other outside software programs.
