  INMASS/MRP Software for Manufacturing

ASSEMBLE TO ORDER

Assemble To Order (ATO) is an integral component in many Make-To-Order or partial Make-To-Order environments. With ATO, you have the option of creating BOM or JC/WIP jobs when you enter Sales Orders in the INMASS/MRP Sales Order Entry module. If you create a sales order detail line for an item that has a bill of materials, you will be asked if you wish to open a work order for the item. The job, if created, is added as a "queued" status job and then can be made into a "live" work order through either BOM Job File Maintenance in BOM, or Work Order File Maintenance in JC/WIP.

The INMASS/MRP Assemble to Order module consists of two functions: (1) List Queued Jobs and (2) Set ATO Addresses/Parameters.

LIST QUEUED JOBS

This report function lists all queued jobs. You may choose to show either standard or average costs on the list. The report includes the job number, assembly number, quantity issued, sales order number that created the queued job, the line number, work in process value and explosion type.

SET ATO ADDRESSES / PARAMETERS

  • Many parameters are provided to allow you to customize the ATO module for your environment. Some of the parameter settings are:

  • The Starting Work Order Number option allows you to set the starting automatic job number for ATO.

  • The Work Order Number Source option allows you to choose whether or not you would like the job numbers created based on the sales order number from which they are queued (for example, if the sales order is 0005000, the work orders for the 3 assemblies on that sales order would be 0005000-01, 0005000-02 and 0005000-03).

  • The Quantity To Issue parameter allows you to choose whether you would like the work order quantity issued to be (1) the sales order quantity or (2) the sales order backorder quantity (quantity ordered minus quantity shipped).

  • The Make To Order function allows you to be asked only about creating a work order when you have flagged the item as a "Make To Order" item in the BOM module. This is a very effective way to ensure that only the items you want may be queued as work orders by your Sales Order Entry operators.

  • The Open Work Order Default option allows you to set the default answer, to the question posed to your Order Entry operators, about whether or not they would like to queue a work order for items that meet the specified criteria as described above, allowing you another important layer of control in the process.
